Get your Saskatchewan Health Card

Apply for provincial health coverage (eHealth Saskatchewan) soon after you arrive — it covers doctor and hospital visits. Newcomers may have a short waiting period, so check your status. The SK Health Card provides free visits to family doctors and walk-in clinics. However, prescription medications (pills) are generally not covered unless you have private supplemental insurance.

Victoria Square Dental

Victoria Square dental is home to your Regina dentist and our team of professionals. We are a friendly group of dental professionals offering comprehensive general & cosmetic dentistry in a modern and friendly environment. New patients are ALWAYS welcome!

Finding a Family Doctor

1. Using the CPSS Directory: The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) maintains a public register of licensed doctors. While it does not filter by who is accepting patients, you can use it to search for practice locations and gather contact information for clinics in your area. 2. Calling HealthLine 811: 1-877-800-0002. Calling 8-1-1 to speak with a registered healthcare professional can sometimes yield up-to-date advice on which local clinics might be expanding their practices or taking on new patients.

Medimap

Medimap was established in 2016 to make healthcare more accessible for Canadians. We saw huge inefficiencies in the way that people were accessing primary care across the country. Our initial goal was to provide patients with an easy way of comparing wait times at walk-in medical clinics in their community. Over time, patients were requesting other health services that can be booked on Medimap. Now, patients can book appointments directly on Medimap, with over 15 types of health and wellness clinics. Today over 70% of walk-in medical clinics across Canada use our platform. We have grown to 2000 partnerships with walk-in clinics and other healthcare clinics and over 12 million Canadians that use Medimap.

Clinic vs ER vs HealthLine 811

Use a walk-in clinic for minor issues, call 811 (HealthLine) any time for free health advice, and go to the ER or call 911 only for emergencies.

Hospitals

Saskatoon: Royal University Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital. Regina: Regina General and Pasqua Hospital. Search the nearest one when you need it.

Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The CDCP is a federal program that helps cover dental costs for eligible residents. Eligibility and coverage are set by the federal government and change — check the official page before applying.

Ask the clinic to have the contact of the family doctor and join the waitlist to have a family doctor. Usually you have to reach out to that doctor.
